Here is a really neat octagonal gold medal that is nearly 100 years old. The medal is called the Leonard S. Prince Medal for General Excellence and appears to have been issued by New Rochelle High School to Edward Ford Cordial on June 29, 1923. The medal is stamped on the back as being made by Warren & Co. on Fulton St. in New York and is also stamped as being made of 14K gold. The medal is only lightly worn and has a very cool look. It is a thin piece and has a few minor bends, but they are not too distracting. The medal weighs about 11 grams total. The actual gold weight of the piece is just under 0.2 ounces of pure gold. I was unable to find any information online about this award or the winner, Mr. Cordial. Overall, a very interesting and attractive gold medal. |
