The 1934 Maryland Tercentenary Commemorative Half Dollar features the image of Cecil Calvert, also known as Lord Baltimore. However, many experts believe that image may not actually be of Calvert as it was based on a painting that showed an individual wearing a Puritan collar even though Calvert was a Catholic. In any event, this example of the 1934 Maryland Commemorative Half Dollar has been graded MS64 by PCGS and is encapsulated in an old green label holder from many years ago. Although there are a few light marks scattered about, the coin appears to be of a much higher quality than the assigned grade would suggest. A pleasing near-gem example of the Maryland Commemorative Half Dollar. |
