1881/881 $5 Liberty Gold FS-304 RPD PCGS MS62		SOLD

This 1881/881 $5 Gold Liberty Half Eagle has been graded MS62 by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. This coin is a repunched date variety with evidence of underlying digits under the 881 of the date, and is attributed as the FS-304 RPD variety as listed in the Cherrypickers’ Guide. The piece is uncirculated with strong mint luster and an even bright gold color with no significant discoloration. There are many small hits and marks scattered about on each side which are consistent with the assigned grade. A wonderful example of this interesting repunched date gold variety.
