This 1916-D Mercury Dime has been graded AU53 by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. This coin was part of a complete collection of Mercury Dimes that was put together by a long-time collector of the series. The entire set of dimes was housed in an album and was recently graded by PCGS. As the lowest-mintage dime of the entire Mercury Dime series, the coin has always been a popular key-date amongst collectors, and is sought after in all grades. Because of its popularity, the 1916-D Mercury Dime is one of the most counterfeited coins in the market, so purchasing a certified piece like the one offered here is especially important. The coin lightly circulated with minor wear on the high points of the design and the piece retains a good deal of the original mint luster. There are some light hairlines and light marks on the surfaces, but none are too significant and are appropriate for the assigned grade. The coin is bright and free of toning. An amazing well-detailed example of the popular key-date Mercury Dime.
