1944-S Mercury Dime PCGS MS65 "DOILY" |
SOLD |
 |
Here is a 1944-S Mercury Dime which has been graded MS65 by PCGS and is housed in one of the very rare Doily label PCGS holders. This version of the PCGS holder was only used for a couple of weeks during late-1989 before it was quickly phased out. Accordingly, it has been reported that only a few hundred coins in this style of holder are known to exist today and they are highly sought after by collectors. The coin is bright white and very lustrous with the overall look of a higher graded example. Only a few tiny marks can be found on the coin, including one on the upper neck of Liberty. The coin is also well-struck and nearly has fully split bands, but not quite enough split to earn the FB designation from PCGS. The two-piece Doily holder is in very good condition with only a couple of small inclusions in the plastic that do not affect the integrity of the outer stacking ring which is not broken and remains intact. A very nice gem Mercury Dime in the ultra-rare Doily holder! |
