1883-CC Morgan Dollar PCGS MS65DMPL DOILY SOLD
1883-CC Morgan Dollar PCGS MS65DMPL DOILY
Here is a beautiful 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar which has been graded MS65DMPL by PCGS and is housed in one of the very rare Doily label PCGS holders. This version of the PCGS holder was only used for a couple of weeks during late-1989 before it was quickly phased out. Accordingly, it has been reported that only a few hundred coins in this style of holder are known to exist today and they are highly sought after by collectors. Typically, when you find a PCGS Doily holder they will be of common coins like Morgan Dollars and Mercury Dimes; though this is a Morgan Dollar, it is not common to find a DMPL designated Morgan Dollar in one of these holders. In fact, I have heard of no DMPL Morgan Dollars grading higher than this piece that still remain in a PCGS Doily holder. Moreover, this is a Carson City dollar which are a favorite with collectors. The coin is bright white, lustrous and free of toning. The coin is very flashy with strong mirrored fields and frosty devices. There are some light marks in the fields and on the high points of the coin and they are exaggerated in the photos somewhat as is typically the case with deep mirror prooflike coins. The two-piece Doily holder is also in good condition considering it is over 25 years old now, with just a small amount of plastic chipped off the left part of the outer stacking ring on the reverse side. An awesome chance to get a gem DMPL Carson City Morgan Silver Dollar in the popular Doily holder!
