Here is a 1957 Proof Franklin Half Dollar which has been graded PR65 by PCGS and is housed in one of the scarce Doily label PCGS holders. This version of the PCGS holder was only used for a couple of weeks during late-1989 before it was quickly phased out. Accordingly, it has been reported that only a few hundred coins in this style of holder are known to exist today and they are highly sought after by collectors. The popularity of the original Doily label holders has inspired multiple retro reissues of the Doily label by PCGS in recent years. The coin is mostly untoned and has strongly mirrored fields. There are a couple of areas of light haze on the surfaces and traces of a faint fingerprint on the left obverse, but those issues are much less distracting in hand than the photos might suggest. The two-piece Doily holder is in good condition with an outer stacking ring that is fully intact with just a few minor inclusions. An overall nice gem Proof Franklin Half Dollar in the original PCGS Doily holder!
