1909 V.D.B. Lincoln Cent ANACS MS67RB |

The 1909 VDB Lincoln Cent was the first Lincoln Cent issued in the series which has now lasted over 100 years. The 1909 VDB is also a one-year type coin as it was the only year the designer's initials were located on the reverse of the coin. After only a couple of weeks of production, Brenner's initials were removed from the reverse of the coin, creating this highly popular variety. This example of the 1909 VDB Lincoln Cent has been graded MS67RB by ANACS and is encapsulated in the older small white ANACS holder from many years ago. Note that the coin has a relatively low five-digit certification number as well. High grade mint state examples of this date are readily available as they were saved by many shortly after they were issued. However, coins in the MS67RB grade are scarce. The coin has a very interesting look being mostly red on the obverse and a much deeper brown color on the reverse. I would guess that prior to certification, the coin was in an album for many years in which only one side of the coin was exposed. An amazing high grade example of the 1909 VDB cent in an early ANACS holder. |
