1941-D Walking Liberty Half PCGS MS65 DOILY FS-501 D/D RPM |

Here is a 1941-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar which has been graded MS65 by PCGS and is housed in one of the very rare Doily label PCGS holders. The coin has a strongly repunched mintmark and is definitely the 1941-D/D RPM variety which is designated as FS-501 in the Cherrypicker’s Guide. This version of the PCGS holder was only used for a couple of weeks during late-1989 before it was quickly phased out. Accordingly, it has been reported that only a few hundred coins in this style of holder are known to exist today and they are highly sought after by collectors. The coin is bright white with strong mint luster. There is a slight haziness on both sides of the coin, but it does not distract. The coin appears well struck and the details of the coin show well. Just a few small marks can be found after a close look, but nothing major. Looks to be a solid gem coin. The two-piece Doily holder is in average condition with an outer stacking ring that does have one significant crack in the lower right corner, but fortunately that crack does not go all the way through the outer ring. A wonderful gem example of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar in the ultra-rare Doily holder! |
