1908-S Indian Head Cent NGC MS66RB Eagle Eye Photo Seal |

The 1908-S Indian Head Cent made history as the first U.S. cent produced outside of the Philadelphia Mint for general circulation. This became possible because of a change in law a few years earlier which had previously prevented non-silver or non-gold coins from being produced elsewhere. All 1,115,000 1908-S Indian Head Cents were minted in November 1908. This example of the 1908-S Indian Head Cent has been graded MS66RB by NGC. The slab also features an Eagle Eye Photo Seal sticker as well as a separate laminated card hand-signed by Indian Head Cent expert Richard Snow indicating that the coin is a nice example for the assigned grade. The coin has beautiful color on both sides, and is particularly colorful for a mint state Indian Head Cent. Strong cartwheel luster is present on each side as well which adds further to the eye appeal. The coin is also free of any mentionable hits, marks or spots. There are no red-brown designated examples of this date grading higher at NGC and only a single MS66+RB coin has been certified by PCGS. An amazing high-grade mint state example of the first branch mint cent with spectacular toning that would be very difficult to surpass in overall beauty. |
