1908-S Indian Head Cent ANACS MS61RB |

The 1908-S Indian Head Cent made history as the first U.S. cent produced outside of the Philadelphia Mint for general circulation. This became possible because of a change in law a few years earlier which had previously prevented non-silver or non-gold coins from being produced elsewhere. All 1,115,000 1908-S Indian Head Cents were minted in November 1908. This example of the 1908-S Indian Head Cent has been graded MS61RB by ANACS and is encapsulated in the older small white ANACS holder from many years ago. The coin has a decent amount of original red color remaining and for the rarely used MS61RB grade it is a pleasing specimen. Just a few small spots on the reverse seemingly caused the graders to knock this coin down a couple of grading points when it was graded years ago. The coin has excellent mint luster remaining and no major hits or marks of note. A great looking mint state example of the first branch mint cent with some original mint red color remaining. |
