The 1900-O/CC Morgan Silver Dollar is an interesting over mint mark variety. Presumably, an old reverse die with a CC mint mark was reworked and given an O mint mark for New Orleans. By 1900, the CC reverse dies were no longer needed as the Carson City Mint had stopped minting coins several years prior in 1893. However, after the reverse dies had been reworked with the new O mint mark, clear remnants of the underlying CC mint mark still remained. This example of the 1900-O/CC Morgan Dollar has been graded F12 by ANACS. The coin has even wear on each side and is light-gray to medium-gray in color. There are a few minor hits present and some light hairlines on the high points, all of which seem appropriate given the assigned grade. A decent circulated example of this popular Morgan Dollar variety. |
