2016 Glendale Coin Club 50 Grams Gold Medal by Daniel Carr ANACS MS70 SOLD
2016 Glendale Coin Club 50 Grams Gold Medal by Daniel Carr ANACS MS70
This 2016 Glendale Coin Club Medal was minted by Daniel Carr who was commissioned by the Glendale (CA) Coin Club. The obverse design features the grizzly bear design from the 1925 California Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Half Dollar in actual size, with the name of the coin club surrounding. The reverse design features the California State Seal design from the Official Medal of the 1894 California Midwinter Exposition and the 2016 date. The 1894 California Midwinter Exposition medal was designed by Charles Barber and struck by the United States Mint and is a popular so-called dollar listed as HK-245 in the Hibler-Kappen reference. Examples of the 2016 Glendale Coin Club Medals were struck in various metal compositions as set forth on the mintage statistics included below. Only 7 pure gold medals were produced, nearly all of which will be retained by club members, making this piece extremely rare. The medal is 39mm in diameter and weighs 50 grams (just over 1.6 troy ounces) of .999+ pure gold. The medal is marked on the edge "50 GRAMS 999+ GOLD." The medal has been professionally certified by ANACS and graded a perfect MS70. ANACS has also used the special Moonlight Mint labeling which his hand signed by Daniel Carr on the reverse side. A beautifully done medal and a rare opportunity to own a perfectly graded large gold Daniel Carr piece with a mintage in the single digits.
