This undated James K. Polk Presidential Residence Medal has been graded MS61PL by NGC and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. In or about 1861, George H. Lovett produced a series of medals featuring the residences of all of the United States Presidents to that time. In researching this series, it appears that medals of the earlier presidents like Washington, Adams and Jefferson were much more popular and had higher mintages than the later presidents like James Polk. A well detailed piece with flashy proof like mirrored fields and frosty cameo devices. There are some hairlines in the fields which account for the relatively low mint state grade. Overall, a great example of this entry in the Lovett Presidential Residence series. |
