Here is a Lesher House Restoration Dollar issued in or about 1984 which has been graded MS69 by NGC and is encapsulated in one of their newer-style edge-view holders. These medals were struck by the American Numismatic Association in order to raise funds for the restoration of the Lesher House and were based on the very popular octagonal so-called Lesher Dollars struck from 1900 to 1901 by Joseph Lesher. A total of 1000 of these medals were minted and this is marked as No. 161. Of all of the pieces certified at NGC, this piece is one of only two (2) that have been awarded the MS69 grade with none grading higher. As the grade suggests, the medal is virtually perfect and as struck with no significant defects or issues of note. |
