To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy Half Dollar, the United States Mint struck some Kennedy Half Dollars in 3/4 oz. .9999 Fine Gold in 2014 with a dual 1964-2014 date. Upon their release, these coins were extremely popular. They were first released at the Chicago ANA World’s Fair of Money in August 2014 where they were in so much demand that the Mint was forced to cut off sales part way through the show for public safety reasons. Examples of the coin that were purchased at the show and graded at the show were eligible for special labeling by the major grading services. This example of the 2014-W Gold Kennedy Half Dollar has been graded PF69 Ultra Cameo by NGC and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. The NGC label also has the special “ANA Inaugural Releases” designation meaning this was one of the few examples bought at the 2014 Chicago ANA World’s Fair of Money and graded at the show. The coin itself is a beautiful piece with amazing eye appeal. The coin is virtually perfect and the only issues of note are a couple of microscopic spots in the reverse field. This coin also comes with the original United States Mint box for the coin and the certificate of authenticity. A beautiful .9999 fine gold Kennedy Half Dollar with the special ANA labeling.
Because of the difficulty in capturing the overall look of the coin in a single image, I have also included a short high-definition video of the coin towards the bottom of this listing in an attempt to give you a better idea of what this coin will look like in hand. Please note that you may need to adjust the video quality to 1080p and may need to increase the size of the video to full screen in order to see the coin in maximum detail. |
