Here is a spectacular 1894 Indian Head Cent which has been graded MS64BN by NGC and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. The coin has a light scratch across Liberty’s face and a few scattered hits that likely limit the numerical grade to 64. However, the eye appeal of this coin is superb and renders the numerical grade virtually irrelevant. The color of the coin is not accurately described by the BN (brown) color designation as both sides of the coin are beautifully and colorfully toned. The obverse is a bright golden color across most of the surfaces with vibrant pink, purple and blue color towards the upper right. The reverse is even more colorfully toned with very strong pink, purple and blue colors. The luster of the coin is also strong for the grade which really helps the colors come to life. An extremely eye appealing Indian Head Cent.
