This 1826 Capped Bust Half Dollar has been graded XF45 by NGC and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. This coin has medium to dark toning on both sides that has the look of very old and original patina. The coin has fairly strong original luster as well that pops through the somewhat thicker and deeper toning. The piece shows some light wear in the expected areas, but not too much wear. Although the plastic holder has several fine scratches that show in the photos, the coin itself is free of any major issues. I believe this coin is the Overton 101a variety, which the authors of that reference assigned as a Rarity-2 variety. A decent original looking lightly circulated Capped Bust Half Dollar. |
