Here is a wonderfully toned one ounce .999 fine 1987 Silver Eagle graded MS66 by PCGS. Colorfully toned Silver Eagles can be found as pure silver is quite susceptible to toning. However, finding an example with attractive color that covers both sides of the coin is a bit more difficult. The example here is a beautifully toned example and one of the most attractive certified Silver Eagles that I have handled. Although the color on the obverse is slightly spotty, it is fully toned in amazing rainbow colors. Yellow, orange and red are concentrated at the center of the design and green, blue and purple colors are found closer to the rims. The reverse toning is slightly deeper and even more attractive with mostly blue, green and purple color and an area of more vibrant red and orange near the center. Although you may be able to find many examples of toned PCGS certified Silver Eagles, this example is one undoubtedly one of the better ones. |
