1917-S U.S.-Philippines Ten Centavos PCGS AU58 |

This coin was minted in San Francisco for use in the Philippines which were a territory of the United States at the time. Because they were minted for use in a U.S. Territory, minted by the U.S. Mint and the coins say “United States of America” on them, many collectors are now starting to collect the U.S. Philippines coinage along with their U.S. coin collections. Even the Red Book of U.S. Coins has expanded their listing of USPI issues, see pages 415-419 of the 2015 edition (pages 411-415 of the 2014 edition). This 1917-S U.S.-Philippines Ten Centavos has been graded AU58 by PCGS and is encapsulated in the newer-style edge-view holder. The coin shows just the smallest hint of wear upon close inspection, though it is difficult to determine in the photographs as the coin also has a somewhat weak strike which makes certain areas appear to be flattened. The piece shows nice original luster and is moderately toned in a nice light golden color. No major hits, marks or other distractions are present. A nice AU58 graded example of the U.S.-Philippines Ten Centavos. |
