1907 Great Britain 4D Maundy PCGS MS66 OGH |

It has been the tradition for several centuries for the United Kingdom's monarch to distribute Maundy Money each year to selected elderly. This 1907 Great Britain 4 Pence Maundy has been graded MS66 by PCGS and is encapsulated in an old green label holder which is approximately twenty years old. The coin has very strong PL surfaces and very attractive toning. The color is a very nice deep lilac and purple on the obverse and more of an electric blue on the reverse. The higher points of the design seem to pop out from the color giving the coin a slight cameo effect. There is some extremely light spotting on each side of the coin that is much less noticeable in hand than the photos suggest. Overall, this piece has superb eye appeal. The obverse of the coin features the portrait of King Edward VII, while the reverse shows the date and denomination topped by a crown. It is not likely that too many other examples exist in this condition today and with this much overall eye appeal. |
