Here is nice example of the 1926 Sesquicentennial of American Independence Commemorative Half Dollar which has been graded MS64+ by PCGS and encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. The obverse depicts the first President of the United States, George Washington, alongside the then current President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge. The reverse shows a very nice rendition of the Liberty Bell. The coin has some light handling marks and minor hits on the high points, but nothing too significant. The coin is mostly bright white and has very nice original Mint luster, much more so than the average Sesquicentennial Half Dollar. In fact, the relatively nice luster of the piece is likely the reason the coin was given the plus grade by PCGS. Given the large jump in price to the next grade, this near gem example of the Sesquicentennial Commemorative Half is a relative bargain. |
