1944-C Newfoundland 5 Cent PCGS MS62 |

Newfoundland 5 cent pieces of just about every date are difficult to find in mint state condition. This 1944-C Canada Newfoundland 5 Cent piece has been graded MS62 by PCGS and is encapsulated in the newer-style edge-view holder. The coin is moderately toned with a light golden color that deepens to a deep purple along parts of the rim. The coin is very lustrous and semi-prooflike as well as shown in the alternate photos provided. There are some light hits scattered about the coin, but nothing major enough to limit the coin to the assigned grade in my opinion. What appears to be hairlines in the fields at first glance are mostly die polish lines which are characteristic of freshly worked dies that gave rise to the proof like appearance of this coin. An attractive mint state example of a World War II ear Newfoundland 5 cent piece. |
