This is a 1989-P Jefferson Nickel Error Coin which has been graded MS66 by PCGS and encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. The coin is an uncentered broadstrike error and all of the details of the coin are therefore very well struck. The coin is lightly toned in a mostly golden color but some traces of green and pink are seen as well, particularly on the reverse, but the color doesn’t fully show in the photos provided. The coin is free of significant marks or hits and is a wonderful overall example. Although the coin did not receive the FS designation for having fully struck steps on the reverse, the steps on the reverse are clearly all there. Perhaps the FS designation is not used on an error coin? In any event, a very high-grade and attractive example of a neat Jefferson Nickel error. |
