1913-E German States Saxony PCGS MS62 Leipzig Centennial |

 |
Here is a nice example of a 1913-E German States Saxony 3 Mark coin which commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig. This example has been graded MS62 by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. The coin is referenced in the Krause World Coin Guide as KM #1275. Both sides of this coin are bright white free of toning and exhibit very strong cartwheel luster. The obverse fields of the coin do show several handling marks which seemingly limit the technical grade of the coin, but the overall look is that of a higher graded example. Specifically, the reverse of the coin featuring the crowned imperial eagle really pops on this example and looks several points better than the assigned grade. Overall, this is a very pleasing mint-state example of this popular commemorative issue. |
