1935 Connecticut Half PCGS MS66+ |

|
A spectacular overall example of the 1935 Connecticut Commemorative Half Dollar which has been graded MS66+ by PCGS and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. Many collectors agree that the obverse image of the Charter Oak is one of the most attractive designs in the classic commemorative half dollar series. I think that the art deco styled eagle on the reverse is also quite attractive, but that opinion is not shared by quite as many collectors. This example is mostly bright white and very lustrous with just a little bit of dirty golden toning near parts of the rims. The coin is nearly free of marks or other issues except for a series of small hits likely caused by the edge of another coin which are present in the lower left reverse fields and on the eagle’s left leg. But for those hits, this coin would have almost certainly graded higher. In any event, this coin has great overall eye appeal and was likely an easy choice for a plus grade by the graders. A beautiful Connecticut half with the look of the next higher grade for a fraction of the cost. |
