Only 2,558 proof U.S.-Philippines five centavos were struck by the Philadelphia Mint in 1903. This example of the 1903 U.S.-Philippines Proof Five Centavos is graded PR66 by PCGS and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. Only fourteen examples of this date have graded higher at PCGS, twelve (12) coins graded PR67 and two (2) coins grading PR68 with none higher. The coin is slightly toned with a light golden color on both sides, with only a few small breaks in the toning, particularly on the lower obverse. The light toning on the coin does affect the mirrors a bit and mutes them slightly. That said, the coin is a wonderful example of the type and the only other distraction of note is a very small darker patch near the left-side rim on the obverse. |
