1921 High Relief Peace Dollar Top 50 VAM 3 PCGS MS63 |

The 1921 High Relief Silver Peace Dollar is a popular issue for many reasons. It is the first year of a new type of silver dollar, it is the only year the type was issued in high relief and the coin has a relatively low mintage of just over one million pieces struck. Most importantly, it is an overall beautiful design, particularly in the high relief format. This example of the 1921 High Relief Silver Peace Dollar has been graded MS63 by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. PCGS has also attributed this coin as being the VAM 3 Line Thru L variety which is a Top 50 VAM variety. The coin has a decent strike and average mint luster for the grade. The obverse is quite attractive as it is moderately toned in a medium grey color with hints of lilac. The reverse toning is a bit darker and a bit spotty, but the luster on the reverse is somewhat stronger. Some light marks and hairlines across Liberty’s cheek are of note, but not distracting when viewed in hand. An overall interesting mint state example of this VAM 3 variety of the first-year high-relief Peace Dollar. |
