Here is a 1961 Washington Quarter that has been graded MS66+ by PCGS and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. The coin has also been certified by CAC as being solid for the assigned grade. The coin has medium grey toning over the entire obverse with hints of orange, green and blue color that pop through. The reverse is only lightly toned in comparison. Both sides have strong original luster that pops through the toning and only a couple of small marks on the high points of the designs. PCGS has only graded five (5) examples of this date in higher grades, all of which are graded MS67 and have recently sold for prices of as low as $6,000 to nearly $10,000. This example graded only one-half of a point lower seems like a bargain at a fraction of the expense. |
