1925 Lexington Half PCGS MS63 CAC w/ Wooden Box SOLD
1925 Lexington Half PCGS MS63 CAC w/ Wooden Box
The Lexington-Concord Sesquicentennial Commemorative Half Dollar commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord which kicked off the American Revolution. This example of the 1925 Lexington-Concord Sesquicentennial Commemorative Half Dollar has been graded MS63 by PCGS and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. The coin has also been certified by CAC as being solid for the assigned grade. Included with the coin is one of the original small wooden boxes in which the commemorative was originally issued in 1925. The coin is deeply toned with attractive color which ranges from bright gold to green to deeper red and brown. A decent amount of original luster pops through the thick toning making the color even more appealing in hand. The coin is free of major hits, marks or other distractions and I am surprised at the relatively low grade this coin was assigned by PCGS as the coin has a better overall look and is less problematic than other examples I have seen on the market that grade a point or two higher. The wooden box that is included with this coin is in fair condition with bold stamps of the commemorative design on each side. The box appears to have been coated in some sort of glossy varnish and there is some scratching into the wood on the upper right top of the box near the head of the minuteman. An amazing example of the Lexington-Concord commemorative half with an original wooden box.
