Here is a 1961 Washington Quarter that has been graded MS66+ by PCGS and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. The coin is very lustrous and has relatively few marks as the grade suggests. A professional image of the coin was also taken by PCGS for their CoinFacts service and that image is included below. The coin exhibits some nice toning, particular on the obverse around most of the rim. A few light abrasions on the high points of the design have likely kept the coin from grading even higher. PCGS has only graded five (5) examples of this date in higher grades, all of which are graded MS67 and have recently sold for prices of as low as $3,300 to nearly $10,000. This nicely toned and attractive example graded only one-half of a point lower is certainly a bargain at a fraction of the expense. |
