1927-M U.S.-Philippines One Centavo PCGS MS63RB |

This 1927-M U.S.-Philippines Centavo has been graded MS63RB by PCGS and is encapsulated in the newer-style edge-view holder. The coin was minted at the Manila branch of the United States Mint for use in the Philippines which were a territory of the United States at the time. Because they were minted for use in a U.S. Territory, minted by the U.S. Mint and the coins say “United States of America” on them, many collectors are now starting to collect the U.S. Philippines coinage along with their U.S. coin collections. Even the Red Book of U.S. Coins has expanded their listing of USPI issues in recent years. This example is a choice uncirculated cent that has a good amount of the original red color remaining. The coin also features attractive toning on both sides with rainbow colors concentrated at the rim with the central areas remaining a golden red color. The coin is more vibrant and colorful in hand as the photos came out slightly dark as it was difficult to fully light the entire coin at once. Some light marks and light scratches, particularly in the reverse fields, likely limited the numerical grade of the coin. An attractive example of a Manila mint centavo. |
