1970-D Kennedy Half Dollar NGC MS64PL |

1970 was the final year the Kennedy Half Dollars were regularly issued with silver content. The 1970 40% silver half dollar from the Denver Mint was only available in mint sets issued by the Mint. This example of the 1970-D Kennedy Half Dollar has been graded MS64PL by NGC and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. At first appearance, the coin appears very similar to a proof issue with mirrored fields and frosted devices. However, this is a relatively scarce prooflike example of the normal business strike 1970-D half dollar issued in the mint sets. The piece is free of toning and very flashy. There are some light hits and marks scattered about and given the mirrored fields they are easier to see than they would be on a non prooflike issue. A special example of this popular date. |
