1909 V.D.B. Lincoln Cent NGC MS64BN |

The 1909 VDB Lincoln Cent was the first Lincoln Cent issued in the series which has now lasted over 100 years. The 1909 VDB is also a one-year type coin as it was the only year the designer's initials were located on the reverse of the coin. After only a couple of weeks of production, Brenner's initials were removed from the reverse of the coin, creating this highly popular variety. This example of the 1909 VDB Lincoln Cent has been graded MS64BN by NGC and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. An amazingly colorful and vibrantly toned example of this first-year Lincoln Cent. The coin has bold and bright color on both sides with lots of red, blue and purple colors; certainly not a simply brown coin as the color designation suggests. The coin is also well struck and quite lustrous. There are remnants of fingerprints in the colorful toning that may have resulted in the graders limiting the numerical grade of the coin, but it may actually add to the overall unique look and toning of the coin. Otherwise, the coin is free of spotting or significant hits that you may expect on a coin in this grade. An impressive and colorfully toned 1909 VDB Lincoln Cent. |
