1972 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln Cent NGC MS62BN |

The 1972 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln Cent is one of the most popular varieties of the modern Lincoln Memorial Cent series and is a great example of a DDO that can be seen without magnification. This example of the 1972 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln Cent has been graded MS62BN by NGC and is encapsulated in one of their newer edge-view holders. The coin has spectacular eye appeal and is far nicer than the assigned grade would otherwise suggest. The obverse is deeply toned in a wonderful blue and purple color that totally covers the surface of the coin. The reverse is also toned, but the color is much more subtle. The original luster of the coin is strong and certainly adds to the overall eye appeal of this toned beauty. The coin is also free of major distractions that one might expect at this grade level. There are some minor hits scattered about and one deeper hit in the obverse field just off Lincoln’s beard that is of note. However, in hand the eye is drawn to the luster and color of this piece and such marks are hardly noticed. Please note that there are several scratches and scuffs in the plastic holder which unfortunately show in my photos, but the coin is not affected. A beautifully toned example of this popular doubled die obverse Lincoln Memorial Cent. |
