1938-D Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS67+ |

A stunning example of the very popular Buffalo Nickel. This 1938-D Buffalo Nickel has been graded MS67+ by PCGS and is encapsulated in the newer-style edge-view holder. This nickel has so much original mint luster that photographing the coin and properly lighting the piece was extraordinarily difficult. The well-struck coin also has eye appealing toning that was also difficult to show in the photographs. The color is a faint orange and lilac color with more vibrant golden color around the rims on each side. The surfaces are virtually perfect no significant hits or marks of note and just a minor toning spot on the neck is about all that can be criticized on this piece. Although the 1938-D Buffalo Nickel is one of the more common dates to find in nice mint state condition, it is becomes much more scarce in an ultra-high grade like MS67+. Moreover, the relatively few examples grading higher at the MS68 by PCGS typically sell for about 20 times the cost of this coin for that extra half-point grade. A superb example of this final year of issue of the type that has excellent overall eye appeal. |
