This 1833 Capped Bust Half Dollar has been graded VF35 by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. The coin has also been certified by CAC as being solid for the assigned grade. Despite the moderate wear on this coin, the coin has tons of eye appeal and very colorful toning. It appears that the piece was likely toned over many many years in an envelope or maybe an album of some type. The colorful toning completely covers both sides of the coin with a blue and purple color in the fields and a brighter yellow and green color near the rims. A very narrow band of more vibrant rainbow color is found at the lower obverse rim. The coin has no major hits or marks or other distractions and the color of the piece dominates the attention of the viewer. I believe this coin is the Overton 110 variety, which is a common variety. An extraordinarily eye appealing and colorful example for the assigned grade.
Because of the difficulty in capturing the overall look of the coin in a single image, I have also included a short high-definition video of the coin towards the bottom of this listing in an attempt to give you a better idea of what this coin will look like in hand. Please note that you may need to adjust the video quality to 1080p and may need to increase the size of the video to full screen in order to see the coin in maximum detail.
