The 1947-S MacArthur 50 Centavos is a silver coin minted at the San Francisco Mint for the Philippines who wished to honor General Douglas MacArthur following World War II. This 1947-S Philippines MacArthur 50 Centavos has been graded MS67 by Accugrade and is encapsulated an older holder from more than twenty-five years ago. The coin has strong mint luster on both sides and attractive rainbow toning on the obverse. There are a few light marks on the obverse portrait and also scattered about the reverse, but nothing overly distracting. There is a
noticeable crack in the plastic of the holder of note, on the reverse side of the holder near the upper right rim of the coin, though the holder seems to be otherwise intact. There is some doubling in the lettering on the obverse, particularly in the words “DOUGLAS” and “ARTHUR” and the coin appears to be the Allen R-1a DDO variety. That said, the DDO variety has not been attributed on the label. An eye appealing high-grade example of the Douglas MacArthur 50 Centavos. |
