1814 Capped Bust Half Dollar PCGS XF45 CAC |

This 1814 Capped Bust Half Dollar has been graded XF45 by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. The coin has also been certified by CAC as being solid for the assigned grade. The coin shows light circulation wear on both sides which is limited to the high points of the designs. The coin is deeply toned in a medium-dark grey color that is very even across both sides of the coin. Original Mint luster is strong given the grade of the piece and adds a great deal to the overall eye appeal of the coin. The clash marks found on both sides also make the coin that much more interesting. A couple of tiny hits can be found under a close inspection, but the piece is otherwise free any issues. I believe this coin is the Overton 107 variety, which the authors of that reference assigned as a Rarity-2 variety. An overall magnificent coin for the grade. |
