1911-S/S Lincoln Cent FS-501 NGC MS62BN |

The 1911-S/S Lincoln Cent repunched mintmark variety, designated as FS-501 in the Cherrypickers' Guide, is a popular early Lincoln variety. The coin shows a strong repunching of the S mintmark as there is clearly a secondary S mintmark just underneath and to the northwest of the primary mintmark. This example of the 1911-S/S Lincoln Cent RPM FS-501 has been graded MS62BN by NGC and is encapsulated in the newer-style edge-view holder. The coin is a medium brown color with a lighter red-brown color toward the upper part of the obverse and the lower part of the reverse. A couple of small marks in the left obverse fields and a couple of small marks on the portrait of Lincoln most likely prevented a higher grade. A decent mint state example of this early date repunched mintmark variety. |
