The Texas Independence Centennial half dollars have one of the most crowded designs of any commemorative half dollar. Because of the crowded design, hardly any open fields remain making the grading of these coins very difficult. With this example, however, it is not hard to see why the superb gem grade is deserved. This 1936-D Texas Commemorative Half Dollar has been graded MS67 by PCGS. The coin has also been certified by CAC as being solid for the assigned grade. The piece has slightly muted luster on the obverse as there is a light haze over the surface, evident of its originality. The reverse is a bit flashier with slightly stronger luster and beautifully appealing color. The toning on the reverse is mostly a golden and green color around the rim, but parts of the rim also show some pink and blue colors. Just a couple of tiny hits can be found on this piece, but they are very minor. A special example of the Texas Commemorative Half Dollar. |
