1909 Liberty Nickel PCGS MS65 |

 |
The 1909 Liberty Nickel is the lowest mintage 20th Century nickel in the series minted in Philadelphia and is much harder to find than other so-called common date Liberty Nickels. This example here is a very nice coin which has been graded MS65 by PCGS. The coin has an above average strike with fully formed stars and well defined hair on the obverse and well defined kernels of corn in the reverse wreath. The coin has superb cartwheel luster and a nice even bright white color with slightly proof like fields. The coin has only a few light marks which keep it from an even higher grade, most notably there is one tiny hit on Liberty's cheek and a few small hits in the reverse field. Additionally, there is a small dark spot hidden in the lower left part of the wreath on the reverse. Notwithstanding, this is a really nice gem example of this date. |
