The 1997-P Matte Proof Jefferson Nickel was issued exclusively in the Botanic Gardens Coinage and Currency Set and has a relatively low mintage for a modern coin of only 25,000. This example of the 1997-P SMS Matte Proof Jefferson Nickel has been graded MS69FS by PCGS. These nickels were very well made and this example is nearly perfect as the grade suggests. It takes a very close inspection under magnification to even seen any hint of anything less than perfection on this piece. A wonderful nearly-perfect example of this low-mintage Jefferson Nickel.
