This 1882 Proof Shield Nickel has been graded PR66CAM by PCGS. This nickel has light toning on both sides that is slightly hazy, but which adds nice color and eye appeal to the piece. The obverse is particularly appealing with a brighter center and slightly deeper golden color around the rims. The coin has nice cartwheel luster and decent mirrored fields, but the toning of the coin does cover and limit the depth of those mirrored fields somewhat. Only a few light hits in the obverse shield are of note on this otherwise near perfect coin. An attractive high-grade proof example of the Shield Nickel. |
