1962-Mo Mexico Peso NGC MS64 |

The 1962-Mo Mexico Silver Peso is made from .100 fine silver and is slightly smaller than a United States silver dollar. Rapid inflation in Mexico contributed to the reduced silver content of the Peso around the time this coin was struck. The obverse of this coin features the image of Miguel Hidalgo, hero of the Mexican War of Independence. This example of the 1962-Mo Mexico Peso has been graded MS64 by NGC. The coin is somewhat dark in appearance, but shows attractive rainbow toning when tilted into the light as just enough original mint luster remains to help that color pop. No major hits or marks are immediately evident and I would guess that the coin would have graded higher had it been brighter in appearance and had more of the original mint luster remained. A very pretty overall example of the Mexican Peso. |
