The 1973 Canada Royal Canadian Mounted Police Silver Dollar is composed of 50% fine silver with an actual silver weight of 0.375 ounces and features a proof-like finish. The obverse depicts a re-engraved version of the "Mature Head" Queen Elizabeth II which shows considerable detail. The reverse design features a lone "Mountie" and his trusty steed as well as the dual date 1873-1973 since this coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of the formation of the R.C.M.P. This example of the 1973 Canada R.C.M.P. Silver Dollar has been graded SP66 by PCGS. A TrueView photo was taken by PCGS which captures the beauty of this coin in the best light. When tilted into direct light, the beautiful toning of this piece comes alive as shown in the TrueView photo. Of course, the coin takes a different look when tilted away from direct light as seen in the full slab shots provided. This coin is a purple toned monster unlike any other Canadian dollar I have seen. Both the obverse and reverse are completely toned in a very deep and vibrant purple with blue highlights that pop through. Stunning overall eye appeal. |
