The 1973 Canada Royal Canadian Mounted Police Silver Dollar is composed of 50% fine silver with an actual silver weight of 0.375 ounces and features a proof-like finish. The obverse depicts a re-engraved version of the "Mature Head" Queen Elizabeth II which shows considerable detail. The reverse design features a lone "Mountie" and his trusty steed as well as the dual date 1873-1973 since this coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of the formation of the R.C.M.P. This example of the 1973 Canada R.C.M.P. Silver Dollar has been graded SP68 by PCGS and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. A TrueView photo was taken by PCGS which captures the beauty of this coin in the best light.. When tilted into direct light, the beautiful toning of this piece comes alive as shown in the TrueView photo. Of course, the coin takes a different look when tilted away from direct light as seen in the full slab shots provided. The obverse is wonderfully toned with a deep purple, blue and green that turns to a lighter golden color in the center. The reverse is fully toned in a mostly blue and purple color that is speckled with other colors as well. |
