1888 Morgan Dollar NGC MS63 VAM-11A CAC SOLD
1888 Morgan Dollar NGC MS63 VAM-11A
This 1888 Morgan Silver Dollar has been graded MS63 by NGC and is in an older style NGC "fatty" holder which is slightly thicker than the current holders. The coin is a beautiful example with wonderful obverse toning that exhibits just about every color of the rainbow. The reverse is mostly bright white with just a faint bit of rim toning. The luster of the coin is strong and really helps to make that obverse color pop. While there are many small hits and marks in the fields and on Liberty on the obverse, many of those hits are well-hidden by the toning which helps give the coin the appearance of a coin that grades higher. Although the variety is unattributed on this old NGC holder, this coin is definitely a VAM-11A Doubled Ear variety which is a VAM Top 100 variety. The marks through the lips and chin, the doubling on the ear and the clash at the neck of Liberty all show very clearly on this example. An overall amazing example of this Morgan Dollar variety.
