2016 Glendale Coin Club Copper Medal by Daniel Carr $25
2016 Glendale Coin Club Copper Medal by Daniel Carr
This 2016 Glendale Coin Club Medal was minted by Daniel Carr who was commissioned by the Glendale (CA) Coin Club. The obverse design features the grizzly bear design from the 1925 California Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Half Dollar in actual size, with the name of the coin club surrounding. The reverse design features the California State Seal design from the Official Medal of the 1894 California Midwinter Exposition and the 2016 date. The 1894 California Midwinter Exposition medal was designed by Charles Barber and struck by the United States Mint and is a popular so-called dollar listed as HK-245 in the Hibler-Kappen reference. Examples of the 2016 Glendale Coin Club Medals were struck in various metal compositions as set forth on the mintage statistics included below. Only 262 copper medals were minted, most of which will be retained by club members, making the piece quite rare. The medal is 39mm in diameter and weighs 1 troy ounce of .999 pure silver. The medal is 39mm in diameter and is struck on a pure copper round with a smooth edge. The medal comes in a high quality plastic capsule to protect the near perfect condition of the piece. A beautifully done medal and an opportunity to own a low mintage copper club medal by Daniel Carr which is not available on the Moonlight Mint website.
