With a mintage of only 228,000 coins, the 1885-CC Morgan Silver Dollar has the lowest mintage of all of the Carson City Morgan Dollars. That said, the great majority of the mintage of 1885-CC Morgan Dollars did not circulate at the time and a large number remain in mint state today where they are very popular among collectors. This 1885-CC Morgan Dollar has been graded MS66+ by PCGS. The coin is bright white and has extremely strong cartwheel luster that radiates around the surfaces of the coin. The strike of the coin is also exceptional. There are a few light hits in the obverse fields and some light marks on the devices, particularly at the lower part of Liberty’s neck, that seemingly kept this specimen from grading even higher. The reverse of the coin is close to flawless with just a couple of small marks. The reverse also has some neat die cracks connecting some of the lettering. An amazing example of this popular low mintage Carson City Silver Dollar.
Because of the difficulty in capturing the overall look of the coin in a single image, I have also included a short high-definition video of the coin towards the bottom of this listing in an attempt to give you a better idea of what this coin will look like in hand. Please note that you may need to adjust the video quality to 1080p and may need to increase the size of the video to full screen in order to see the coin in maximum detail.
